ASHTON'S Butchery won awards in five of the six categories in the Toowoomba/south-west Queensland Regional Sausage King Competition in Oakey on Sunday.
The butchery's team of sausage connoisseurs claimed the top champion prizes in the beef category with their traditional-style sausage, the lamb category with their lamb, honey, garlic and rosemary and the gourmet category with their popular Aussie burger recipe.
They also won bronze in the poultry category with their chicken, mushroom and onion creation and gold in the continental category with their famous Italian casalinga.
Although he recently gained recognition at national finals of the competition, Rob said the regional level of the competition was the hardest one to win, with 30 flavours entered in the gourmet section alone.
This year Ashton's Butchery asked their customers what flavours they would like to see entered into the competition.
Two suggested ideas - Chinese spiced pork and beef, fig and caramelised onion - were both made and entered.
