RESIDENTS of the Central Highlands are encouraged to attend the M Group Tyre and Mechanical "Serious Road Safety Campaign."
As part of the campaign the Emerald store is conducting complimentary tyre safety checks at two shopping Centres
New team member Donna Ryder says women often don't know what to look for when checking if their tyres are safe.
"Since joining the M Group and knowing almost nothing about tyres, I realised that so many of us women have no idea how to check our tread depths and many of us are driving ourselves and our families around on unsafe tyres," she says.
During the Safe Driving Campaign M Group staff will be conducting complimentary checks and showing the women in the community how to check their tyres. They will also be giving away tread depth indicators that will help people monitor their tyre wear.
Store Manager Graham Hunter says it's especially important for Central Highlands residents to check their tyres.
"Our local people do a huge amount of driving in many different road situations and we just want to help everyone become aware of how to check their tyres," he said.
"Quite often people don't realise how unsafe their tyres are until the rain hits. Wet roads and low tyre tread can cause aqua-planing and loss of control which in turn can lead to needless accidents."
The M Group will be at Central Emerald Market Plaza on Thursday, February 21 and Centro Emerald Village on February 22 from 10.30am-4.30 pm.
