DALBY cattle stud GK Livestock has taken out the top accolade at last week's Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Gavin and Kirrily Iseppi and family had a highly successful showing in the stud beef arena where their red angus won both the Senior and Grand Champion Red Angus Bull and Female as well as the Junior Champion Heifer awards, before finishing the show on a high note by winning the top award, The Hordern Trophy, for Supreme Beef Pair of the Show.
This is the second consecutive year the Iseppis have been involved in the winning team, having bred and exhibited the bull in last year's red angus winning combination.
"This year was very special for us because we had bred and exhibited both the winning bull and female, which is a rare feat," Gavin said.
"It is something that cattle exhibitors strive all their lives to achieve and is arguably the top accolade in the beef show ring in Australia."
Queensland beef identity and Hordern Trophy judge Gary Noller, Gunnadoo Charolais, awarded the win to the red angus, praising them for their industry relevance and uniformity as a pair.
The bull, cow and calf were all sired by leading Canadian red angus sires, which Gavin and Kirrily market in Australia.
"The 20-month old bull, GK 2R Greenback, will be reserved for the upcoming Red Angus National Show and Sale, to be held in Dubbo on June 26, but we also have a good run of quality paddock bulls available for sale... ," Gavin said.
