WELL-renowned food consultant Alison Alexander has been announced as the Southern Downs 2013 Australia Day Ambassador.
Alison will attend both the Warwick and Stanthorpe celebrations as a guest speaker of the Woolworths Ambassador Program.
Mayor Peter Blundell said Alison's achievements were a credit to her passion and dedication to the food industry.
"We look forward to hearing her inspirational story at our celebrations," Cr Blundell said.
Born in Queensland, Alison is a passionate promoter of Queensland regional produce, regularly conducting tours to raise this awareness.
With a background as a teacher and caterer, she works as a food consultant and appears as a guest chef and speaker at conferences and promotional events.
Last year Alison was appointed Australia's first Food Fellow by the Queensland Government, which has her travel across Queensland and interstate to profile innovative food science.
Alison has also co-ordinated the Brisbane Hilton Masterclass, Queensland's premier food and wine event, from 2003 to 2010, was a co-founder of Queensland's first grower's market, The Farmers Markets and has been an Australia Day Ambassador since 2008.
