HAMDENVALE Brahman Stud will hold its second annual Summer Sizzler Heifer Sale at Simla, about 50km west of Mackay, on Sunday, November 25 at 1.30pm.
This follows the inaugural Hamdenvale Summer Sizzler Heifer Sale which was a three day online auction using AuctionsPlus.
Stud principal David Deguara said he was happy with the result achieved using that method of selling.
But he said the systems in Australia weren't to the standard to allow this type of selling to be as successful as in the United States, hence the decision to revert to a conventional auction this year.
Good use of technology is still being made with the sale catalogue being available for viewing on the Hamdenvale website and the Australian Brahman Breeders website.
The sale this year will offer 30 lots in total with 28 heifers and four semen packages.
Hamdenvale will offer 20 heifers and have invited guest vendors Arkama Brahmans who are offering two heifers and a semen package and Pioneer Park Brahmans who will offer four heifers.
"I will only be offering the very best quality heifers in our sale," Mr Deguara said.
"We no longer sell heifers at any other sale, nor in the paddock.
"This is the only time we make our female genetics available to other breeders."
Heifers offered in the sale carry a considerable range of bloodlines, including Australian/American, American/South African, full American and full JD Hudgins.
The sale starts with a lovely full American bred heifer in the JDH Sir Alamo daughter, Hamdenvale Laverne 634/1.
She is a very feminine heifer with great temperament and excellent breed characteristics. Laverne has been AI'd to JDH Duke De Manso.
Lot 2 Hamdenvale Miss O'Hara 681/1 provides buyers with the opportunity to obtain a heifer with American genetics on the sire line and quality original Australian genetics on the dam line.
"This cross has been proving very successful for us with good feedback also being provided by purchasers of this cross."
She has also been AI'd to JDH Duke De Manso.
The first of only two red heifers to be offered is Hamdenvale Sarina 618/1. Sarina is a polled daughter of LB Derringer out of NCC Anna 1020.
She is a stylish heifer with a good underline, excellent temperament and from a fertile dam line with her mother producing three progeny, all of which have been polled. Sarina has been AI'd to Lancefield Rushmore on October 26.
Following the same format as last year's sale, although the majority of the heifers are just coming on to breeding age and slightly younger, the stud will offer one cow and calf in Lot 24 Hamdenvale Corinna with bull calf at foot by JDH Sir Alamo Manso 126.
Being by JDH Mr Angelo Manso, this female offers the buyer the opportunity to start at the top with a donor quality heifer.
Purchasing a cow and calf package can provide a rewarding quick start for a stud as Dean Pola, Polar Bear Brahmans, has witnessed with his purchase of the cow and calf package, Hamdenvale Darlene, at last year's sale.
She has produced another calf and Dean is preparing his sale purchase heifer for sale early next year giving him a quick return on his investment.
The first of the embryo calves to be offered, Lot 25 Hamdenvale Grace 812/3 is a full American bred heifer who has good eye appeal and excellent breeding. She will be offered on her recipient mother.
The second embryo calf to be offered, Lot 26 is Hamdenvale Model 810/3. He is fashionably bred by JDH Modelo Manso 268/5 out of a JDH Madison De Manso daughter. Model has full JD Hudgins breeding.
"To enable potential purchasers and interested cattle breeders the opportunity to view the cattle prior to the sale, we are holding a sale preview on Friday at 3pm and followed by a complimentary barbecue," Mr Deguara said.
