AGRICULTURAL shows in the Mirani electorate will get a $74,772 boost with funding announced by the Newman Government.
The money has been allocated through Local Government Minister David Crisafulli's grants program and is designed to ensure communities throughout the region continue to host these signature events.
Ted Malone MP, said the funding for the shows was a vote of confidence by the state in the important role local shows played in communities.
"We all know that money is tight this year," Mr Malone said.
"We have a responsibility to make sure every cent counts, and bringing people together to showcase the best in the region, whether it's cattle, produce or cooking, is a tradition we're proud to support."
The Mirani Electorate funding includes:
- Sarina Show Society $19,524; and
- Pioneer Valley Agricultural Show Society Inc $35,509.
Many show societies have reported that without state support their annual show would fold.
"The shows are a focal point in our community, and I'm proud of the small role these grants will play," Mr Malone said.
"The real heroes are the Show Society members who put in dedicated efforts, in many cases year after year, to provide this highlight for local people."
