THE Northern Rivers Catchment Management Authority (NRCMA) has opened its 2013-14 Small Grants Program.
This funding program has operated for a number of years and has provided financial assistance to the community to undertake works to maintain and restore their natural resources to sustainable levels. These natural resources include soils, biodiversity, rivers, estuaries, wetlands, and coastal and marine environments.
In 2013-14 the NRCMA Small Grants Program is being delivered in partnership with 11 Landcare Networks in the Northern Rivers region.
The program is being funded through the State Government's Catchment Action NSW and the Australian Government's Caring for Our Country Program and plays a major role in supporting the implementation of the NRCMA's second Catchment Action Plan 2013-2023.
Individuals, farming and fishing entities/enterprises, Landcare groups, Dunecare groups, 'friends-of' and other community group organisations, indigenous groups / organisations or people from a culturally and linguistically diverse background are invited to apply.
On-ground works proposals can request funds between $2000-$10,000, while the development or updating of NRM plans is capped to a maximum of $5000. All projects will need to be completed by the middle of May 2014.
Landcare networks across the Northern Rivers region will be hosting information sessions over the coming weeks - please be quick to contact your local Landcare network and check their websites to find out about details for these.
