CATTLE sales in the Mackay area resume tomorrow, beginning with the combined Elders/Landmark sale at Sarina showgrounds from 10am.
Both Nebo and Sarina saleyards reported increased numbers of livestock sold through their saleyards in 2012.
At Nebo the throughput has increased to 11,314 head, Hayes & Co's Peter Hayes said.
"There has also been a marked increase in the number of private livestock weightings at the Nebo saleyards," he said.
Some of this increase could be related to the number of sales of hinterland properties to mining companies and these properties being de-stocked.
At Sarina, Landmark Mackay manager Tony Dwyer said they expected about 400 head for tomorrow's sale.
Sarina Show Society treasurer Karen Perry said the total number sold at the combined sales on Tuesdays over 12 months was 10,050 head in 2012, up from 9508 head in 2011.
