TONIGHT'S Mardi Gras is the perfect chance to get the family out of the house and into the rodeo spirit.

Tourism and Events CEO Tracy Vellacott couldn't be more excited about the street party.

"It's great to see Ponies Ponies Ponies back for the second year," she said.

"And they're bringing their animal nursery along this time.

"It's a great chance for the kids to get up close and personal with little critters."

Mrs Vellacott also said she was glad to see the Lions Club back at the event.

"They have their new food van, along with another charity food van and the Community Disaster Relief Van.

"It's tremendous when we can make the dollars go around our community in a good way like this."

Something for everyone to have a go at tonight is the Cyclone the (mechanical) Bull. He made an appearance last year and was a crowd favourite.

"Some not so good for the diet food but yum food will be there for everyone to enjoy," Mrs Vellacott said.

"Twisted potatoes, poffertjes, treat dreams confectionery, liquorice and lollies stall and even Dippin Dots ice-cream along with Mr Nice Cream."
