Roma young bullocks hit 307c/kg at saleyards

A TOTAL yarding of 924 head of cattle were penned at Roma's Prime Sale on November 24.

Steers over 550kg sold to 307c/kg and averaged 299c/kg, while steers 400-550kg sold to 295c/kg and averaged 288c/kg. Heifers over 450kg made to 288c/kg and averaged 276c/kg, while heifers 350-450kg sold to 281c and averaged 273c/kg.

Cows over 500kg peaked at 270c/kg and averaged 240c/kg while cows in the 400-500kg class topped at 245c/kg and averaged 229c/kg.

Cows 300-400kg sold to 221c/kg and averaged 200c/kg.

Bulls over 600kg earned to 259c/kg and averaged 238c/kg.

HIGHLIGHTS

Bruce Smith, Coleraine, Mitchell, sold santa-cross steers to 307c/kg for 608kg to return $1868/head

P and C Britton, Brighton Downs, Winton, sold brahman-cross steers to 304c for 630kg to return $1916.

Hartley Grazing, Coopermurra, Mitchell, sold brahman steers to 301c for 632kg to return $1904.

John York, Taunton, Roma, sold simmental steers to 300c for 633kg to return $1901.

Bengarcia Grazing Co, Bengarcia, Bollon, sold charolais-cross steers to 300c for 623kg to return $1871.

Keddstock, Moongool, Yuleba, sold charolais heifers to 285c for 604kg to return $1722. The charolais cows sold to 252c for 711kg to return $1795.

J and J Bell, Kinnoul, Taroom, sold santa-cross heifers to 281c for 536kg to return $1509. The santa-cross cows sold to 246c for 634kg to return $1561.
