Roma steers get tops of 295c/kg

A TOTAL yarding of 630 head of cattle were penned at Roma's Prime Sale on Thursday, November 10.

Steers over 550kg sold to 295c/kg and averaged 289c/kg, while steers 400-550kg sold to 294c/kg and averaged 280c/kg.

Heifers over 450kg made to 278c/kg and averaged 272c/kg, while heifers in the 350-450kg class sold to 287c and averaged 276c/kg.

Cows over 500kg peaked at 243c/kg and averaged 234c/kg, while cows in the 400-500kg class topped at 256c/kg and averaged 230c/kg.

Cows 300-400kg were not available.

Bulls over 600kg earned to 266c/kg and averaged 247c/kg.


Hartley Grazing, Coopermurra, Mitchell, sold brahman-cross steers to 295c/kg for 648kg to return $1913/head.

The brahman-cross heifers sold to 278c for 500kg to return $1391.

Sandover Pastoral Co, Ammaroo Station, Alice Springs, sold santa-cross steers to 293c for 624kg to return $1830.

BJ Taylor and Sons, Marjundale, Injune, sold charolais-cross steers to 293c for 580kg to return $1700.

W and J Harris, Quebec, Roma, sold crossbred steers to 292c for 615kg to return $1797.

L and L Cormack, Crystalbrook, sold brahman-cross cows to 240c for 650kg, returning $1321.
