A TOTAL of 5266 head of cattle were penned at Roma's Store Sale on Tuesday.
Numbers returned to normal after cattle supply was limited by last week's rainfall. The quality of the yarding improved and prices lifted across most categories of cattle.
Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topped at 193c/kg and averaged 182c/kg, while steers in the 350-400kg range reached 195c/kg and averaged 173c/kg and steers in the 280-350kg range reached 225c/kg and averaged 182c/kg. Weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 230c/kg and averaged 204c/kg, while weaners under 220kg topped at 226c/kg and averaged 207c/kg.
The Thorne family, Holmleigh, Mitchell, sold hereford-cross steers to 229c/kg and averaged 211c for 294kg to return $621. They also sold hereford-cross heifers to 183c/kg for 247kg to make $452 a head.
Alan Emery, Mt Beverley, Wallumbilla, sold angus steers to 225c/kg for 229kg to return $515.
The Burns family, Colgoon, Roma, sold droughtmaster-cross steers to 218c and averaged 208c/kg for 274kg to return $572. They also sold droughtmaster heifers to 204c/kg and averaged 182c/kg for 258kg to make $470.
The Olive family, North Pentwyn, Blackall, sold charolais-cross steers to 214c/kg for 252kg to return $541. They also sold brangus-cross heifers to 198c/kg for 249kg to make $494 a head.
The Packer family, Trinity, Roma, sold santa-cross steers to 210c/kg for 315kg to return $663.
Bryce Rolfe, Nindinna, Roma, sold charolais steers to 210c/kg for 248kg to return $522. He also sold charolais-cross heifers to 206c/kg for 227kg to make $468 a head.
The Pether family, Roseneath Station, Longreach, sold angus steers to 200c/kg for 309kg to return $619 a head.
Farmleigh Pastoral Co, Mitchell, sold droughtmaster steers to 199c/kg and averaged 187c/kg for 329kg to make $616.
Wyndella Grazing Partnership, Roma, sold droughtmaster-cross steers to 196c/kg and averaged 189c/kg for 431kg to make $815 a head.
Dart Pastoral Co, Thirlstone, Roma, sold charbray steers to 194c for 382kg to return $743 a head.
Rewan Cattle Co, Rolleston, sold droughtmaster-cross steers to 183c/kg for 365kg to make $669 a head.
The Nichol family, Sutton Veney, Roma, sold angus heifers to 182c/kg for 230kg to return $420 a head.
Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 180c/kg and averaged 158c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 193c/kg and averaged 160c/kg.

Cows over 500kg hit 153c/kg and averaged 140c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at 154c/kg and averaged 125c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg range made 138c/kg and averaged 102c/kg.
