Roma prime cattle sale

A TOTAL of 1129 head of cattle were penned at Roma's Prime Sale last Thursday.

Steers over 550kg topped at 188c/kg and averaged 180c/kg, while steers in the 400-550kg sold to 182c/kg and averaged 169c/kg.

The York family, Yorkaringa, Wallumbilla, sold hereford-cross steers to 187.6c/kg for 707kg to make $1326 a head.

The Sutton family, Tallawalla, Roma, sold brahman-cross steers to 185c/kg and averaged 184c/kg for 611kg to return $1124 a head.

The Hartley family, Mitchell, sold brahman-cross steers to 184c/kg for 657kg to return $1207 a head.

The Leahy family, Felicia Park, Wallumbilla, sold angus-cross steers to 183c/kg for 556kg to make $1018 a head.

Heifers over 450kg hit 165c/kg and averaged 150c/kg, while heifers in the 350-450kg category returned 155c/kg and averaged 145c/kg.

Bassett Cattle Co, Jennavale, Roma, sold droughtmaster-cross heifers to 155c/kg for 530kg to return $822 a head.

They also sold droughtmaster-cross cows to 145c/kg for 563kg to make $816 a head.

The Noon family, Mitchell, sold droughtmaster-cross heifers to 155c/kg and averaged 147c/kg for 442kg to return $651 a head.

Cows over 500kg peaked at 153c/kg and averaged 140c/kg, while cows in the 400-500kg class topped at 146c/kg and averaged 132c/kg.

Cows 300-400kg sold to 140c/kg and averaged 131c/kg.

McWaters Pastoral Co, Releigh Station, Quilpie, sold droughtmaster-cross cows to 152c/kg for 507kg to return $772 a head.

Bulls over 600kg made to 169c/kg and averaged 152c/kg.
