RENAULT'S all-new flagship Koleos mid-size SUV will be priced from $29,990 for the entry-level two-wheel drive Life variant.
Available as a 2WD or 4WD, the new model arrives in the next few weeks to join the smaller Captur in Renault's SUV lineup, and looks a huge leap over the rather unloved outgoing model in terms of size, space and specification.
Based on the Renault-Nissan Common Module Family modular platform - also used for Nissan's X-Trail - the new Koleos is markedly larger than its predecessor, its size pitching it against the likes of Kia's Sorento and Hyundai's Santa Fe.
Such size meant there was speculation it would be available as a seven-seater, but for now at least, it will only offer chairs for five. To compensate, Renault says the Koleos will have "class leading cabin space". With the split rear seat up Renault says boot space is 624-litres - a big leap over the current offering's 450-litres.
Three Koleos variants will be available: Life, Zen and Intens. All feature a 126kW/226Nm 2.5-litre petrol engine coupled with a CVT auto gearbox. Inside is Renault's new R-LINK2 system with 7-inch touchscreen, increasing to 8.7-inches for the range topping Intens.
All models can tow 2000kg (braked), have dual zone climate, auto headlights and wipers, 17-inch alloys and rear camera.
Move into the Zen ($33,990 2WD, $36,490 4WD) and you score artificial leather, electric driver's seat, heated front seats, keyless entry and 18-inch alloys.
Range topping 4x4 Intens ($43,490) brings all your active safety gear, parking assistance, power tailgate, leather heated and ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof and a Bose sound system.
