A RECORD price for CQLX Gracemere was well and truly set at last Friday's sales.

The weaner steer that broke records was destined for a possible future in the show ring and sold for a whopping 676.2c/kg.

The June 9 yarding had 2571 head at the weekly sale, which consisted of 992 steers, 1095 heifers, 280 cows, 54 cows and calves and 150 bulls.

Quality was good throughout the sale and prices only varied slightly from the previous week's due to good competition from buyers.

Steers to slaughter topped 299c/kg to average 278c/kg, with steers 400-500kg topping 315c/kg to average 305c/kg to a firm market.

Steers 300-400kg topped 455c/kg to average 316c/kg, while the 200-300kg steers topped 676c/kg to average 364c/kg.

Smaller steers under 200kg topped at 408c/kg to average 386c/kg to see a +5 in the market.

Cows had a smaller yarding, with smaller cows under 320kg not available.

Cows to slaughter however topped a neat 255c/kg to average 239c/kg firm.

Cows in the 400-450kg range topped 229c/kg to average 215c/kg with a -6 drop in the market.

Cows 320-400kg topped 250c/kg to average 181c/kg with a -10 drop.

The market was firm across the board for heifers.

Heavy heifers topped 292c/kg to average 261c/kg, while heifers in the 300-400kg range topped 332c/kg to average 275c/kg.

Heifers 200-300kg topped 356c/kg to average 302c/kg.

Heifers under 200kg topped 366c/kg to average 324c/kg.

Cows and calves topped $1300.

Bulls over the 600kg mark had tops of 271c/kg to average 239c/kg, seeing a -10 drop in the market.

Bulls sitting in the 450-600kg weight range topped 284c/kg to average 276c/kg, showing a +26 jump in the market.

Bulls under 450kg topped 387c/kg to average 321c/kg with a +53 jump.

Dunphy Brothers, Island Camp, Gogango - Sold weaner charbray steers for 393c, weighing 262kg to return $1033.

Barker Family, Mt Larcom - Sold brahman X brangus to top at 287c, weighing 623kg, to return $1791.

Barlow Cattle Co, Dingo - Sold brangus weaner steers 374c/kg, weighing 260kg, returning $972 /head.

Funch Family, Garnett - Sold brangus weaner steers to top at 399c, weighing 300kg to return $1197.

Grevillra Past Co, Biloela - Sold top quality charolais weaner steers to 380c, weighing 278kg to return $1057. Their top quality show weaner steer topped the market at 676c, weighing 296kg returning $2001.
