Record crushing season for Bundaberg area cane growers

THE one-million tonne milestone was achieved on October 19 at 4.13am.

The milestone was once the measure of a successful crushing season at Isis, however in 2012, it heralded the 67% mark in a season that is expected to realise around 1,475,000 tonnes of cane.

The season has seen several records crushed.

There has been four weeks of more than 70,000 tonnes through the rollers and now 13 consecutive weeks of throughput in excess of 60,000 tonnes with the average for the past 13 weeks standing at 66,830 tonnes.

Mill performance during this period reflects the attention to detail employees and staff put into maintenance of the factory and rail network.

When the estimate is realised, it will be the highest seasonal throughput in the 15-year history of the Isis Central Sugar Mill Co Ltd, surpassing the previous record set in 1999 of 1,364,721 tonnes by more than 100,000 tonnes.
