STEELE Rudd Murray Greys has had incredible success in recent times.
Their herd has tripled in the past five years and they have reached a point where their bolstered numbers are offering spectacular genetics.
Together the Densley family - which includes Brad and Georgie, Briar, Holly, Archie and Drew - have worked hard at growing their herd with quality hand-picked genetics on their farm at East Greenmount. Brad Densley has been breeding murray greys for almost 20 years.
"The decision to start a murray grey stud was an easy one. When you look at the temperament and carcass qualities the decision really was a no-brainer for us,” he said.
"Having young children, it was important to us to have cattle with a calm nature as our kids spend a lot of time with us in the yards. So knowing that the kids are safe when they are with us and the cattle is important. The greys tick every box for us.”
Steele Rudd Murray Greys has had great success in carcass competitions across Queensland and New South Wales, including Middle Weight Champion Carcass at the Brisbane Ekka in 2016, Grand Champion Carcass and Reserve Champion Carcass at the North Coast National 2012 and 2015 respectively, Eating Quality Awards, and class wins, all with purebred murray grey steers.
At this year's sale the line-up will consist of selected stud females, young sires and some great commercial prospects.
The first 19 lots are the very best cows and calves Steele Rudd has to offer.
Mr Densley said the line-up of unjoined and PTIC heifers on offer were the premium pick of animals at this year's sale.
"They are all peas in a pod. These deep bodied superior girls are due to calve out from as early as March,” he said.
"We are extremely proud of this line-up heifers. The spring of rib and carcass qualities of these females is something that we have been striving for over the years. We have surpassed our every goal.”
There are seven superior yearling and "N” bulls on offer.
Alongside the stud cattle, there are also a number of commercial females and steers on offer.
"We would like to extend a warm welcome to all clients, past and present, and give them the opportunity to view all sale lots on farm from 9am on February 24,” Mr Densley said.
"This being our first ever on-property sale, we would like to wish all of our purchasers every success with our quality cattle.
"We look forward to seeing everyone on farm and invite them to dinner and drinks at the Historic Steele Rudd Park from 5pm.”
