PRESTIGE has arrived in the V8 Supercars and Volvo is far from setting a luxurious pace.

Scott McLaughlin will start his Volvo Polestar Racing S60 from the front row in race two of the Clipsal 500 tomorrow, and from fifth on the grid in race one.

But all the excitement surrounded McLaughlin in the Volvo, who lit up the Adelaide circuit after an inauspicious performance in earlier practice.

This is the first time we have seen Volvo in top flight domestic motorsport since 1999.

McLaughlin team mate Robert Dahlgren are pumped to get things under way.

"The Clipsal 500 is definitely one of the hardest on the calendar," said McLaughlin, driver of #33 Volvo S60 V8 Supercar.

"If we get through this weekend, we can get through anything. We have to be realistic in our goals - we have a big task ahead of us to get going with the development phase - but I am very much ready for the weekend."

The Clipsal 500 is a demanding first-up assignment for the newest team in the championship, and encompasses more than 150 laps of the street circuit, spread over three races during the weekend.

Two 650bhp Volvo S60 V8 Supercars will compete alongside 23 other drivers from Holden, Ford, Nissan and Mercedes-Benz.
