People have been undertaking voyages by sea for thousands of years.Through trade, defence, exploration, immigration, adventure, sport and play, the sea has influenced the world's development.

Seafarer is the general term for men and women who work on ocean going vessels. As an island nation Australia depends on seafarers. We all rely upon the many products ships haul as cargo. Without shipping, the import and export of goods necessary in the world we live in would not be possible.
