My Smoko Break: A curry for the kids

KFC... but not as you know it! Kid Friendly Curry is what I have dubbed this one. Firstly I need to apologise because I didn't measure anything! I'm shocking like that. But if you use common sense you will know how little or how much you and your family or guests can handle. This is suitable for slow cookers or stove top.

What you need

Two brown onions, sliced

Garlic, minced

Ginger paste



Curry powder

About 2 tablespoons of brown sugar

1kg piece rump steak, fat trimmed, cubed

400ml can coconut milk

Salt and pepper

Cornflour mixed with water as a paste to thicken

First, fry off the garlic, meat and onions in a splash of olive oil.

Now add all other ingredients, and just let it simmer away.

Lastly, add in whatever vegetables you like... carrots, beans, potato, zucchini, sweet potato, peas, beans, anything you want to smuggle in.

I served it with rice, which by the way was a microwave-for-90-second pack. So quick and deliciously fluffy, but you know what, mostly because I cannot for the life of me cook rice.
