THE first pictures of the most powerful Jaguar road car ever have been revealed, rather suitably burning its rear tyres in delightful drifts.

The Jaguar XE SV Project 8, of which only 300 will be made, is good for 322kmh (200mph) and hits 100kmh in 3.7-seconds - true supercar performance for this compact four-door sedan.

It uses a 441kW 5.0-litre supercharged V8, rear-wheel drive, has manually adjustable ride height, carbon brakes, smart aerodynamics and what Jag calls Intelligent Driveline Dynamics settings for track use.

Strangely for a British car, and highlighting its perceived track use and appeal to the North American market, the Project 8 will only be available in left-hand drive.

That sadly means we'll not be seeing any official Project 8s in Australia, but if you can secure one in the UK they're priced from the equivalent of about $250,000 AUD.
