TWO days into the new year and five-year-old Leroy has only carrots on his mind, ignoring his big chance for stardom.

On February 23, scores of happy miniature horses and ponies will descend on Cordalba, just out of Childers, to take part in the Isis Hot February Show.

But 106cm-tall Leroy won't be going, owner Ben Dorsett said on Wednesday.

"He's just our family pet and along with our other miniature horse, Molly, 7, he likes to spend his days eating - particularly carrots," he said.

The February show will be held on Sharon and Wayne Dickson's Sunrise Quarter Horse Stud in Christensen St.

"The organisers held a miniature horse show here last October and it was a terrific day," Mrs Dickson said.

Organiser Geraldine Peters said they would have 80-odd events on the day.

Mrs Peters will be bringing along her favourite miniature horse, Algera Jasper, who is just 75cm high.
