Mackay region sugar mills performing well

THE Mackay mills crushed 236,768 tonnes for the week ending October 27. Farleigh and Racecourse performed well with the higher PRS, while Marian continues to struggle with the effect and pan station throughputs. Cane purity dropped at all three sites, putting more strain on the process end of the mills and limiting throughput. Maximum extraction of sugar remains the focus at the mills, with a mid-November end date.

  • Farleigh: 74,709 tonnes
  • Marian: 90,485 tonnes
  • Racecourse: 71,574 tonnes
  • Total for week: 236,768 tonnes
  • PRS for week: 16.48
  • CCS for week: 16.06

► Total cane crushed to date: 4,288,265 tonnes.

Plane Creek region cane supply manager Tony Marino said a total of 64,999 tonnes of cane was crushed for the week.

He said the average CCS for the season has reached 15.10.

The last day of harvesting for the 2013 season has been decided as Tuesday November 12, subject to weather and other disruptions.
