40ha Teven farm makes great gift for Riding for the Disabled

TEVEN-based organisation Ballina and District Riding for the Disabled were given a lovely surprise when they were informed a local man had left them his property in his will recently.

President of the organisation Beatrice Gray said she was happily stunned to learn of the generosity of the late Brian McNamara who gifted his 40-hectare farm to them.

The group is preparing to move from their current home, the Mitchell Centre on North Teven Rd, to the new land on Houghlahans Creek Rd.

They are still waiting to finalise things and have all boxes ticked by the local council.

In the meantime they are up to their elbows in packing up and organising everything at their old premises.

The new property will not only allow them to move to their own premises, rather than operating off someone else's private property, but also to have a bigger, better space to work with.

Mrs Gray said they were very surprised with the news and extremely appreciative to the late Mr McNamara.

They are also astounded as they don't believe they knew Mr McNamara.

But they sure are grateful that this generous man decided to think of them in his will, she said.
