HOLDEN's new product onslaught is in full swing with the brand revealing five new vehicles overnight.
Headlining is a seven-seat large SUV called Acadia which will arrive in 2018, following the new Colorado ute-based Trailblazer large SUV which arrives next month.
Also on show was the new Holden-badged Astra which goes on sale in November, plus facelifted Barina and Trax models which hit showrooms in November 2016 and January 2017 respectively.
The vehicle premieres highlighted Holden's renewed focus on SUVs - an ever-growing segment - as it prepares to become a fully fledged car importer in 2017 as local manufacturing shuts down.
The Acadia is being sourced from America and will be a re-badged model of GMC's Acadia, and will be a direct competitor to Toyota's popular petrol-powered Kluger seven-seat SUV, currently starting from $42,190 as a 2WD and $46,190 an AWD, before on-roads.
Emphasising Holden's SUV range expansion, Holden chairman and MD, Mark Bernhard, also revealed the brand will add another all-new global SUV to the portfolio soon, no doubt a replacement for the current Captiva.
"Holden will introduce four new SUVs by 2018," Mr Bernhard said. "That puts us in a great position in the fastest growing segment of the market."
With the new Colorado ute hitting showrooms this week, Holden has begun its promise to launch five new vehicles over the next five months to "accelerate our showroom revolution."
The all-new Astra hatch - reigning European Car of the Year - will be a strong rival to Toyota's Corolla and Mazda's 3 when it goes on sale in November, while the light Barina has been given a makeover before a November arrival.
The small SUV Trax has also been refreshed ahead of a January 2017 launch, while the eagerly-awaited Trailblazer rugged 4WD seven-seat SUV arrives in just a few weeks.
"The vehicles we've revealed reinforce our commitment to introduce the finest global vehicles for Australian customers," said Mr Bernhard.
"The Acadia will be sourced from the US, the Astra from Europe, and the Barina, Trax and Trailblazer from Asia. Holden is in a unique position where we can provide our customers with the best of the best from around the GM world."
Pricing and specification of Holden's new models will be released closer to their launch.
