LANDOWNER Jonathan Mann felt a sense of relief with the brief stint of rain on Thursday but the clean up following Monday's Awoonga Dam Rd fire will still mean long days and many hours.

To put a brighter note on the situation, Queensland Alumina Limited have donated more than 50 bales of hay to help the grazier.

"One person spoke to another person, and then I got the call that QAL could get these round-bales to us," he said.

"We just had to pay for the cartage - and within an hour and a half, they were here!"

"They put off delivering the second 18, would you believe it, because of the rain!"

The fire burnt through about 3500 acres of grass and fallen trees have damaged fence lines.
