EMERALD Combined Agents yarded 4030 excellent quality cattle at this year's Feeder and Weaner Show Sale on June 6.
With a bigger yarding and improved quality runs, all descriptions were under much stronger competition from a large buying gallery, with values well above prevailing rates of recent weeks.
The event was judged by Chad Driscoll, of Kilcoy Pastoral. The Feeder Steer Class won by Dean Eyles, Capella, with a pen of brangus X steers, weighing 452kg, selling 326c/kg, to return $1474.
The Feeder Heifer Class was taken out by Garry, Penny and Breann Bulger, Carinyah, Willows, with their char X heifers making 305c/kg, weighing 394kg or $1204.
The Weaner Steer Class and Grand Champion pen was won by Terry Grayson, Native Bee, Emerald, for a pen of brangus steers, making 415c/kg, weighing 323kg or $1342, and finally the Weaner Heifer Class was won by Aaron Stranks, Sunnyvale, Willows, with his char X weaner heifers making 371c/kg, weighing 275kg or $1020.
The next Emerald Fat and Store Sale will revert back to weekly and started Thursday, June 15, with a Special Feeder and Weaner Sale on Tuesday, July 4.
Kerry & Cathy Truloff, The Firs, Withersfield, sold char X weaners.
The steer portion making 426c/kg, weighing 324kg or $1381. Their sister mates made 340c/kg, weighing 294kg to return $998.
Peter Turner & Family, Carrie Downs, Clermont, sold euro X weaner steers for 409c/kg, weighing 287kg or $1174.
They also offered heifers for 331c/kg.
Andrew & Marlene Slack, Mayview, Emerald, sold d/master No 6 steers for 348c/kg, weighing 361kg to return $1257.
Scott & Kimberley Schoo, Capella, sold euro X weaners, the steers making 412c/kg, weighing 251kg or $1034 while their heifers made 343c/kg, weighing 254kg or $871.
Brendan & Fiona Kemp, Caramah, Capella, sold brahman No 6 steers for 316c/kg, weighing 404kg or $1277.
Alan & Julie Hay, Eka, Jericho, sold a large draft of simmental/santa/bradford /brahman X weaner steers, which topped at 430c/kg.
The lead pen of simmental X steers, weighing 306kg, made 430c/kg to return $1320.
Shaun & Mindi Durdin, Heathwood, Springsure, sold charolais X feeder steers, weighing 445kg, which made 327c/kg to return $1456.
They also sold a large draft of santa/angus X feeder heifers topping at 323c/kg to average 316c/kg at average 380kg for $1205 per head.
Gladys Holmes, Alamay, Yamala, sold angus weaner steers, weighing 347kg for 387c/kg and $1344.
Steve & Alison Kajewski, Bettafield, Gindie, sold charolais weaner steers for 404c/kg to weigh 300kg and return $1209.
They also sold charolais heifers to 336c/kg and weighed 313kg to return $1051.
