A NOOSA hinterland accommodation provider has won two TripAdvisor awards for eco-friendliness and positive customer reviews.

Noosa Avalon Farm Cottages, at Pomona, was recently awarded the highest possible honour for sustainable environmental practices, receiving a platinum level GreenLeader status from TripAdvisor.

The lodging was also bestowed with a certificate of excellence from TripAdvisor for maintaining an overall four out of five in guest reviews during a 12-month period.

Noosa Avalon Farm Cottages owner Linda McHenry said she was chuffed to receive the awards after putting in decades' worth of effort.

"It's nice to be recognised when you work your guts out," Linda said.

"It's blood, sweat and tears in a place like this because I never started with any money: Everything that's here has been a really hard slog.

"I've been the builder, the carpenter ... you name it, I've been everything.

"It's a dream, and I had this dream from when I was five years old. So it's developed from there."

Linda bought the 12-hectare property in 1986 as a dry field of dead grass.

Since then she has built six self-contained holiday lodgings made from entirely recycled materials, planted hundreds of trees to regenerate the land and runs the estate entirely on tank water, without poisons, for green upkeep.

Linda said taking care of the environment was something she believed in strongly and encouraged her guests to do the same.

"That's what I believe in. If you don't get the opportunity to see nature, and to experience the amazing bush, then how can you love it? How can you protect it? Why would you?" Linda said.

"You can experience it and, hopefully, take that out in to the world. Our cottages are in the stunning Noosa hinterland and we ask all our guests to shop locally as we understand the importance of looking after our local businesses."

Linda has been the sole caretaker of Noosa Avalon for the majority of its life however she is now grateful to receive help from others.

"I would like to thank Belinda, Noel and George, and Rachel Cutler and Arianne Best photographers, who are all part of the Avalon crew."
