BRUCE and Sue Mikkelsen's dedication to the charbray breed has paid off for the pair.
The couple's many years of hard work have landed them the Charbray Society of Australia Ltd Hec Maynard Memorial Trophy of Excellence.
Charbray Society of Australia executive secretary and marketing manager Gaye O'Dea said the couple had embraced the objective of the Charbray Society, which was to encourage the improvement, exhibition and sale of charbray cattle.
"Bruce's eagerness and dedication to help the society has never been more evident than with the establishment of the 2016 Inaugural Charbray and Charbray Infused Prime and Store Cattle Show and Sale, of which Bruce was one of the main drivers,” she said.
"Bruce quietly worked behind the scenes in ensuring this event was successful.
"Including securing our hosts Brad and Donna McInally, Monto Cattle and Country, he canvassed participants, sought sponsors, provided sponsorship and cattle for the sale.
"This sale not only proved to be a promotional win for charbray cattle but also provided a financial boost for the society and has been earmarked to be staged annually.”
