POETRY lovers will have a chance to enjoy some lilting lines at two upcoming functions.
The historic Nebo Museum's 2012 Poet's Smoko will be held on Sunday, October 28, while the Bush Poets Gathering will be held at Eungella chalet on November 11.
Last year Nebo celebrated its 10th anniversary Bush Poet's smoko in the museum grounds.
The event, which began 11 years ago, has gained popularity every year since beginning in Pixie's Restaurant at the Nebo Service station/motel.
Museum co-ordinator Ann Oakes said all the usual poets were expected this year.
"Come along and present your best bush poetry, yarns and song with the rest of the talented folk at the Historic Nebo Museum," she said.
The event starts at 9am.
Morning tea and a sausage sizzle lunch are included in the $10 entry fee.
Mrs Oakes asked people to RSVP by phoning 4950 5471 before October 24.
Tom Oliver is expected to perform at the Nebo event.
More than 50 of his poems have been transformed into song by various artists including Slim Dusty, John Vassallo, John and Carmel Lloyd, Darryl McEvoy and John Kilcullen.
Whatever type of poetry guests prefer, they will be sure to be entertained by the variety presented at both functions.
The Bush Poet Gathering was born after Mr McEvoy had a brush with cancer.
The event helps to raise funds for the Cancer Council of Queensland.
Most of the popular wordsmiths will perform at both functions.
As well as the entertainment last year, attendees also viewed skydivers gliding over the Pioneer Valley.
Mr McEvoy said the fourth poet's gathering would run from 10am to mid afternoon.
