THE weather was glorious and the fish were biting - most of the time anyway - according to the youngest anglers on the Condamine for the 2012 Clifton Carp Competition.

Youngsters like Callum Ebneter weighed up the benefits of different sorts of bait, while Clifton schoolboy Lachlan Meakle proudly displayed a bony bream.

For competition host Colleen Kratzmann it was a busy weekend, but one well worth the effort.

More than 420 campers and fishing enthusiasts from across the Darling Downs took up temporary residence on the Kratzmann family's property for the third Clifton Carp Competition.

Money raised during the event will go to St Francis de Sales Primary School in Clifton as well as the Prostate Cancer Fund.
