Cattle start to reflect dry conditions out west

EMERALD Combined Agents yarded 905 head of prime and store cattle at their weekly cattle sale with all the usual suspects in attendance.

Cattle were drawn from Alpha, Clermont, Capella, Gindie and local areas.

The quality of the yarding was fair with some cattle showing signs of the continuing dry conditions.

The market for prime cattle was firm although good cows may be a shade dearer, selling to 230.2c/kg.

The store market was five to eight cents cheaper right through, with limited numbers yarded.


Richard and Robyn Daniels, Plainfield, Gindie, sold santa bullocks for a top of 267c to average 264c weighing 841kg to return $2220.00.

Hiddenvale Past Co, Anakie, sold good brahman cows to 224.2c to realise $1354.00/head.

K.J and D.J Copping, Mt Sunlight. Rolleston, sold santa x cows for 230.2c/kg weighing 500kg and returning $1151/head.

They also sold santa x steers for 292c/kg weighing 463kg on average returning $1353/head.

Dunmore Pastoral Co sold weaner heifers to 326.2c weighing 236.6kg to return $770.00/head.

L.R Shilvock, Old Springvale, Capella, sold a brangus heifer weighing 200kg for 260c/kg making a return of $520.

He also sold brangus steers for 330c/kg weighing an average 238kg and returning $786 per head.
