EMERALD combined agents yarded 2700 head on April 28 with a good buyer attendance.
Cattle were consigned from Winton in the west, Pentland in the north and all Central Highlands areas.
Meatworks cattle were keenly sought after, with cows in particular strong to be dearer this week while heavy steers were unchanged.
Heavy steers over 550kg sold to 300c/kg to be dearer.
Heavy cows sold to 248c/kg. Heavy heifers over 400kg sold to 333c/kg and showed an increase largely due to quality. Heavy feeder steers 400/500kg sold to 350c/kg and averaged 310c/kg to be dearer.
Steers 350-400kg sold to 349c/kg and remain firm.
Steers 280-350kg sold to 370c/kg and averaged 330kg to be 10c easier.
Weaner steers 200-280kg sold to 408c/kg and averaged 359c/kg to be 10c/kg dearer.
Feeder heifers 350-400kg sold to 306c/kg and averaged 303c/kg to be firm.
Heifers 280-350kg sold to 329c/kg and averaged 306c/kg to be fully firm.
Some good quality weaner heifers yarded to sell to 362c/kg and averaged 315c/kg to be 20c/kg dearer.
No cows and calves yarded and in summary a sprinkling of good local weaners yarded to a strong buying contingent.
