Always ask the rural women, advises Rod

QUEENSLAND Rural, Regional and Remote Women's Network has awarded an honorary membership to long-time supporter Rod Kelly, Westpac's Agribusiness state manager.

"Rod has supported the work of QRRRWN for the past 15 years and this honorary membership recognises the way he's gone above and beyond the call of duty," network president Georgie Somerset said.

"His personal backing and involvement have greatly extended Westpac's sponsorship of QRRRWN."

Mr Kelly said women played an essential role in agriculture.

"If I need information about agriculture, I'll always ask a woman," he said.

"When I visit a farm or a pastoral property, I always make sure the woman of the family is at the table as she is usually the one who provides the information."

He said he was keen to make sure women in agriculture, no matter their role, were encouraged in their work.
