Administrators hope to keep chicken abattoir open

ADMINISTRATORS are fast approaching the business end of a deal they hope will keep Toowoomba chicken processor McClymonts Poultry open.

Up to 100 full-time and casual jobs could be saved if administrators BDO Accountants achieve their goal of selling the abattoir as a going concern.

The business was placed in administration on August 13.

BDO Accountants partner Matthew Joiner said more than 20 parties had shown interest in buying the Greenwattle St site.

Included in the interested parties was a chicken farmer already known to operators of the plant.

"I'm confident we will have something on the table," Mr Joiner said.

Ray White Commercial Toowoomba principal Brian Hodges said offers closed at 4pm next Tuesday.

"We are hopeful to get a sale as a going concern to keep these jobs for Toowoomba," Mr Hodges said.
