Grafton fat cattle sale report

GRAFTON VENDOR OF THE WEEK: RICK and Susan Fischer of Carrs Peninsular were selected as the Vendor of the Week at Tuesday’s sale. They sold 29 steers off the fertile alluvial flats of the Clarence River. The quality of the offering is exemplified by the vendor achieving the three highest sale prices for export steers. The best of these were two santa gertrudis cross charolais steers which sold for 173.2c/kg at an average weight of 607.5kg to gross $1052.19/head. Pictured (standing) is one of the sale-topping steers. The cattle were sold by Farrell McCrohon Stock and Station Agents.

A TOTAL of 446 cattle were yarded at Grafton on Tuesday. A very good line-up of bullocks saw values improve by 3 to 6c/kg. Cows sold fully firm on last week. In the trade section, good quality finished veal sold on a par from the last sale, however lesser quality and plainer calves found the going tough.
