Fungicide helps lift wheat yield

A FUNGICIDE has helped lift wheat yields for the second year running on the Benbraggie Farming property in southern New South Wales.

Bruce Holden first trialled the Opera fungicide from BASF in 2010 and was amazed with the yield response and the better-quality grain it provided to the cereal crop.

Mr Holden said the success of the Opera fungicide trial in 2010 led to another trial on the property in 2011, in which the wheat was sprayed twice at different growth stages through the season.

The Opera fungicide was used initially as a straight rust spray.
