THE Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority has approved an application from Bayer to extend the registration of Prosaro 420 SC Foliar Fungicide to include the control of sclerotinia stem rot in canola. Sclerotinia stem rot has been difficult to consistently control. Sclerotia remain viable for many years in the soil. When weather conditions are favourable, they germinate to produce apothecia, which develop to produce thousands of airborne ascospores. Trials showed Prosaro was better at reducing the symptoms of sclerotinia than iprodione applied at label rates.
