$5k reward to catch blueberry thieves

A FIVE grand bounty has been issued to catch thieves targeting blueberry farms on the Coffs Coast.

The region's growers this week reissued an appeal after a recent spate of thefts on their farms.

It includes $15,000 worth of pruning equipment stolen from Gurmesh Singh's Upper Corindi farm.

"Thefts are mainly occurring at night - we believe farms are being targeted in a co-ordinated approach," he said.

Growers have also reported blueberry plants and other equipment stolen.

That's despite many taking extra security measures such as the installation of CCTV.

Mr Singh - the chairman of the Oz Group co-op -said growers are working with police and offering a $5000 reward for information leading to a conviction.

Call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 to report information.
