Roma store sale

A TOTAL of 7225 head of cattle were penned at Roma's Store Sale on Tuesday.

Both domestic and export feedlot buyers continued to show solid demand for feeder-weight steers and as a result prices improved again this week.

All the usual feedlot and restocker buyers were present and operating.

Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topped at 218c/kg and averaged 181c/kg, while steers in the 350-400kg range reached 228c/kg and averaged 195c/kg, and steers in the 280-350kg range reached 234c/kg and averaged 207c/kg.

Weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 233c/kg and averaged 204c/kg, while weaners under 220kg topped at 242c/kg and averaged 207c/kg.

Glencraco Grazing Co, Glenray, Yuleba, sold hereford-cross steers to 234c/kg for 308kg to make $721 a head.

The Frith family, Wondolin, Wallumbilla, sold angus-cross steers to 234c/kg for 281kg to return $659 a head.

They also sold hereford-cross heifers to 190c/kg for 377kg to make $716 a head.

The Muller family, Kia Ora, Injune, sold charolais steers to 233c/kg for 238kg to make $556 a head.

Consolidated Pastoral Co, Isis Downs, Isisford, sold angus-cross steers to 232c/kg for 317kg to return $738 a head.

They also sold angus heifers to 204c/kg for 311kg to make $636 a head.

The Thorne family, Homeleigh, Mitchell, sold hereford-cross steers to 230c/kg for 214kg to make $493 a head.

The Bureys, Springhill, Amby, sold hereford steers to 230c/kg for 298kg to make $68 a head.

The Mobbs family, Wallambank, Bollon, sold charolais steers to 225c/kg for 317kg to return $713 a head.

The Smith family, Iona, Wallumbilla, sold charolais-cross steers to 224c/kg for 383kg to return $860 a head.

The Crozier family, Charleville, sold santa-cross steers to 221c/kg for 250kg to make $554 a head.

The Russell family, Willara, Augathella, sold charolais steers to 218c/kg for 258kg to make $562 a head.

The Sorensen family, Westerdale, Injune, sold santa-cross steers to 215c/kg for 372kg to return $800 a head. They also sold santa-cross heifers to 192c/kg for 336kg to make $647 a head.

Newton Grazing, Mungalala, sold charolais-cross steers to 214c/kg for 259kg to return $556 a head.

Ernie Clyde, Hurdle View, Roma, sold droughtmaster steers to 214c/kg for to make $548 a head.

Homeward Properties, Rocky Hills, Injune, sold santa-cross steers to 205c/kg for 327kg to return $671 a head.

The Douglas family, Springfield, Mitchell, sold droughtmaster-cross steers to 200c/kg for 408kg to return $818 a head.

They also sold droughtmaster- cross heifers to 205c/kg for 258kg to make $530 a head.

Tullamore Park Pastoral, Canberra, Roma, sold santa-cross steers to 197c/kg for 436kg to return $859 a head.

The Warby family, Wybara, Roma, sold brahman-cross steers for an averaged of 175c/kg for 424kg to return $740 a head.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 192c/kg and averaged 153c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 206c/kg and averaged 175c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 205c/kg and averaged 187c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 199c/kg and averaged 190c/kg.

John York, Taunton, Roma, sold santa-cross heifers to 206c/kg for 325kg to return $670 a head.

Cows over 500kg hit 155c and averaged 136c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at 150c/kg and averaged 126c/kg.
