Dress-up fun for QCWA
HAVE you got a cowgirl costume hidden away in the wardrobe?
For a bit of fun the women from the Calen QCWA are giving prizes to the best-dressed person at the Farmer's Brunch being held on Monday.
Guests can either dress up in vintage wear or as a cowgirl and have the chance of winning the best-dressed prize.
Calen QCWA members have organised the Farmer's Brunch at St Helen's Bowls Club in recognition of the Year of the Farmer.
Incoming branch president, Beth Kendall-Poole said the function would start at 9.30am, tickets would be $18 and the day would include a morning tea, lunch, major cent sale, a trade table and a cake stall.
"Husbands are welcome and for catering purposes we need people to phone and make bookings," Mrs Kendall-Poole said.
Guest speakers will relate experiences on growing up on a cane farm, and spending a lifetime in farming with the teenage speaker giving her views on cattle farming.
It will be a typical country luncheon with corned silverside and vegetables and sweets.
"All of the food for the day is home cooked by the ladies and the lunch is the traditional corned meat and vegetables along with homemade desserts, tea/coffee," branch secretary Karen Gage said.
Contact Karen Gage on 0428 747 022 or the president on 4946 1706 before Sunday.
